A classic bullet-point blog update...

- I think it is really funny how xanga completely redid its look and now is very similar to facebook.  They realize they are so four years ago

- Chris and I got new running shoes two days ago.  We are faithfully plugging away at our training schedule for the half marathon!

-We've been looking at houses which is so much fun!  Still have a couple of months before we might really make an offer, but we've started with a realtor.  Seems like a puzzle though because there are so many great houses except for one major thing - pet odor, location, no backyard, etc.

- I adore my new life as a freelance interpreter

- Chris got roped into being the Sophomore class sponsor and their major project is planning the Valentine's Dance.  He's been up to his eyeballs in that and has already decided he isn't doing it last year.  It makes me laugh that he has to plan the dance!   Looks like I may be getting my first experience chaperoning next weekend!

- I'm going to start at CSDVRS next month as a video interpreter (same concept as Sorenson).  That will be something new and different; I'm curious.

-I'm fascinated with the human body lately - I've been reading a book on natural family planning and it just amazes me all the intricacies of our bodies!

- I'm glad that this TV strike is rumored of ending and we might get to watch The Office again

- I've been convicted of all the pride in my life.  Yikes.  Lord, please change me!

- I'm looking forward to wearing non-winter clothes again soon.  It is always so hard to imagine it being warm enough for shorts and tank tops when it is snowing out.

- I hate hand-washing the special clothes that can't go in the washing machine.

- Easter is my least favorite commerical holiday - I think all the bunnies, chicks, and pastels are not even cute.  And you know it is all going up on Feb. 15.  Or maybe even the evening of the 14th.

- I love reading and have been discovering more and more great authors.

- College seems so long ago.  Chris said that he still counts our "adult life" in terms of college years.  We are now "juniors" in "real life".  And that it will be weird when our adult life just goes on and on and on.

-An interpreter in the community dropped dead on her way in to a job yesterday.  It always makes me think about mortality issues.

- I've lived in Indiana 7 years.  Eventually, I'm going to have lived in the midwest longer than in Oregon.  Sometimes I catch myself doing little things that make me realize how I have really become a mid-westerner; such as asking "Washington state?" when someone mentions Washington and doesn't specify D.C. or state.  Growing up near Washington, Washington was always just Washington.  I'd never even heard the phrase "Washington state".

-Our realtor is from Seattle and has lived in Portland as well.  It was a nice connection point.  And always validating to meet someone else that has moved across the country - makes me feel like it is okay that I did that.

- Valentine's day tomorrow - I'm going to buy a heart-shaped pepperoni pizza at Papa Murphy's.

-These bullet point type posts don't ever have good ending spots.  Oh well.  The end.

I'm stealing this quote from Kelly's site because I liked it so much!

Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another: "What! You, too? Thought I was the only one."  ~ C.S. Lewis

We had a great trip to Oregon; it seemed like we had a lot of time there and we had wonderful connection with all the people I wanted to.  Some highlights: trip with my Dad to see my sister's college and where she lives; playing speed scrabble with Mom, Chris, and David; my brother David playing worship songs on his guitar for us; a trip to a little fall farm type of place with my cousins and aunt; eating pizza with other cousins; soup and salad and my grandma's house; cuddling with my sweet little cat that I've had for over ten years; hanging out with my childhood friend that is going to be a mommy in a couple of months; sipping tea with my good friend Melissa in Portland's huge and famous bookstore, and eating family style at P.F. Changs with my dad, Melissa, and Chris.

My temptation is to sometimes start to go crazy at all the things that I could be doing/catching up on and what people expect of me...but the Lord has given me a sweet peace about listening to HIM and just waiting on him.  No need to spend my life in worry!  It is good to be home and has been a really easy natural transition back to work today which is a blessing.

I didn't have anything obvious to bring for lunch today, so after looking in the fridge I threw together some spinach, tomatos, mozzerella cheese, and cooked bacon.  Went to McDonalds to get some Balsamic Vinagrette dressing and I actually am quite pleased with this little delicious lunch!

I haven't written on here for awhile...I admit I have discovered the wonder that is facebook and have been having fun with that!  But, sometimes there are things you want to write about...so this is still nice.

Two months ago, our laptop computer screen went black.  We thought about the time and expense it would take to send it all the way into the manufacturer, so decided to go with a local place that could get it done more cheaply and quickly.  To make a long story short, after it being in the guy's hands for two months, we just took it back and are sending it to the manufacturer.  It should be back to us in less than two weeks.  That's what you get for taking shortcuts I guess!

We went to an awesome dairy farm/tourist attraction on Saturday!  We got to see tons of cows being milked on this carousel thing, eat grilled cheese sandwiches, and even see a baby calf get born!  It was quite fun.

A good friend of mine is having a C-section on thursday for the birth of her third child.  I'm taking off work to watch her two other little girls.  I'm excited for the day off and so excited about this baby being born!  I also get to take the two sisters to the hospital for the first time!  Fun.

We tried Ethiopian food for the first time this weekend with some friends.  It was quite tasty really!

I finished reading the Bible today - I have been doing the Bible in a year plan, and finished Revelation this morning.  It was such a blessing to read so many parts of the Bible I have never read before...it was an awesome "big picture" journey and made me understand the larger story we're a part of more.  Now, I'm going to go the opposite direction and spend a month or so just digging into one book of the Bible!

We're going to Oregon in three weeks!  I'm looking forward to the visit with my family and to the break in our normal routine.
